How to Create a Dish Garden

When it's ready, add whatever finishing touches you like. I used regular white marble to decorate the soil, but many people like to use whimsical statues, including lighthouses, Buddhas, frogs or whatever strikes their fancy. Make sure to use statues that won't rot, such as paper or soft wood, and try to keep a sense of perspective. Don't include a statue that dwarfs the plants.

When it's done, care for it as any other succulent. Use a very careful hand with the watering, fertilize in the growing season, and provide strong sunlight.

Enjoy!
